Year 1
Welcome to Year 1!
Year 1 is a busy yet exciting year as children continue their learning journey at The Abbey and build upon the foundations secured in Reception.
Year 1 is located in the outside classrooms which gives us the ability to begin the year with continuous provision where children can explore and learn using a core range of resources in all the subjects that are being taught. As children progress through Year 1, we move towards the more structured Year 1 curriculum although still have that opportunity to access our outside area to enhance and support our learning.
Within the classrooms, there is a wooden mezzanine platform in each classroom and children relish the opportunity to work in our exciting Writing Area where independence and resilience is encouraged.
Your child will be supported during this important year by Mrs Morgan, Mrs Banner, Mrs Dewell, Mr Lancaster, Mrs Hanlon and Mrs Robinson. The Pastoral Lead for Year 1 is Miss Doyle.
