Abbey Catholic Primary School

PTFA

The Parent, Teacher and Friends Association’s aim is to work together to help the school, we want to help our community and the children understand the idea of community and its importance in the life of a Catholic school.

To do this we give up our time to raise money to provide equipment for a better school experience for the children of the school. This hopefully aids the teachers to resource learning activities that might not otherwise be possible.

There are lots of us that are happy to give up our time and we are enthusiastic to help run events alongside the staff of the school. We welcome and encourage new members to come along and participate in events.

We hope that the PTFA brings us all closer to: ‘Learning to follow in the footsteps of Jesus with our friends, family and parish.’

Meet the Team

Caroline

Caroline

Co-Chair

Hello, I’m Caroline. I have recently taken on the role as Co-Chair on the PTFA after being the Co-Treasurer for the past few years. I am also a trustee. I have two sons at The Abbey who are both having an absolute blast. I joined the PTFA in 2019 because, as a child of the 90s it was the place to be for parents, and I wanted my children to experience some of the fun times I had.  Over the years I’ve enjoyed our fundraising missions, from reindeer hunting during Covid to organising a preloved uniform shack to support parents. I’ve really enjoyed seeing Abbey children play and benefit from projects the PTFA have focused their fundraising for. Not to mention I’ve made some brilliant friends across all year groups.

Jo

Jo

Co-Treasurer

Hi my name is Jo Boxwell. I am a mom of 4, with two still here at The Abbey, my two older children also came here. I am one of the trustees and Co Treasurer. I am part of the PTFA to help the school and to try and raise funds to provide that little bit extra for the children.

Emma

Emma

Hello, I’m Emma. Both of my children have attended the Abbey since 2015. I joined the PTFA when my son started school. It is a great opportunity to support and help raise money for the school and to get to know other parents (if you don’t do very many drop offs and pick ups like me).

Aleksandra

Aleksandra

Hi, everyone! My name is Aleksandra and I have a son at the Abbey.  I joined PTFA when my son started and have helped the group since then. I still look forward to playing my part in volunteering at school because it is a fantastic opportunity to help out pupils, and parents enjoy the school life as much as possible. We support the school in many ways and meet lovely people.

Doniel

Doniel

Co-Chair

Hello, my name is Doneil and I am the PTFA Co-Chair and in the process of being made a trustee. My daughter has attended The Abbey since 2019. It has been amazing to watch her grow from reception to now, year 5. It is also a great honour to be voted as the Co-Chair, as it allows me to provide support, creativity and innovative ideas. This then adds value to the experience of all the children at the Abbey. I am enthusiastic and compassionate throughout all my endeavours and believe that giving back where possible, is the best way to be. I look forward to learning and supporting the PTFA Team.

Cheryl

Hi I’m Cheryl and I have two boys at The Abbey. The PTFA support the school in lots of different ways which benefit my children so I enjoy being able to give a little back. It is also a great way to meet other parents and make new friends. I am the secretary and one of the trustees of the PTFA.

Kim

Kim

Hi, my name is Kim and I have two boys at the Abbey. I love that being involved in the PTFA allows me to help contribute in securing new resources and opportunities for the children. The children also get to experience a multitude of activities whilst attending the Abbey and anything we can do within the PTFA to ensure this continues, I wholly support.

Mairead

Mairead

I’m Mairead. My son attends the Abbey. I joined the PTFA to feel I was helping him in more ways than just taking him in and picking him up from school. It also makes me feel part of a community.
