The children were super excited to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of world book day. They were asked to come to school as their favourite book character or ready to share a bedtime story.

There were so many wonderful reading opportunities throughout the day and many interactive author sessions.

Across the whole school we read the book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker and responded to it through our reading, writing and art lessons.

This day really helped to promote our love of reading and we are grateful for all the book donations we received for our reading bus.

The children in Reception went on a walk to visit Erdington Library. During the visit the children were able to look at lots of different books and shared a story with a member of the staff. They were told about the process of how to join the library and found out once joined you can loan up to 10 books at a time. All of the children were given library card applications forms. A great trip was had by all.

In Year 1, the chidlren excitedly took a train from Erdington to Birmingham New Street where they visited Waterstones. The children took part in a treasure hunt and got to buy their own book using their World Book Day token. They also got to vote for two books to buy to add to the class library. It was such an adventure going on the train and visiting a book shop all dressed up as characters from books or in pyjamas!
