Children and staff of the Abbey began their Lenten journey with a beautiful service in school, led by Father Elias and supported with eloquent readings from pupils and staff.
As we began, we were reminded to focus on the prayer intention of Pope Francis – the suffering of those in Ukraine.
Through reflective music, hymns and quiet prayer we acknowledged our own failings, gave thanks for all we have and prayed for all those in need.
Our school approached the receiving of ashes with reverence and respect – our outward sign that we are repenting and turning our hearts to the Lord.
