PTFA

The Parent, Teacher and Friends Association’s aim is to work together to help the school, we want to help our community and the children understand the idea of community and its importance in the life of a Catholic school.

To do this we give up our time to raise money to provide equipment for a better school experience for the children of the school. This hopefully aids the teachers to resource learning activities that might not otherwise be possible.

There are lots of us that are happy to give up our time and we are enthusiastic to help run events alongside the staff of the school. We welcome and encourage new members to come along and participate in events.

We hope that the PTFA brings us all closer to: ‘Learning to follow in the footsteps of Jesus with our friends, family and parish.’

Meet the Team

Caroline

Caroline

Chair

Hello, I’m Caroline. In 2023 I became Chair to the incredible Abbey Primary PTFA after being the Co-Treasurer for the past few years. I have two sons currently at The Abbey who are both having an absolute blast. I joined the PTFA in 2019 because, as a child of the 90s it was the place to be for parents, and I wanted my children to experience some of the fun times I had.  Over the years I’ve enjoyed our fundraising missions, from reindeer hunting during Covid to organising a preloved uniform shack to support parents. I’ve really enjoyed seeing Abbey children play and benefit from projects the PTFA have focused their fundraising for. Not to mention I’ve made some brilliant friends across all year groups

Angela

Angela

Hello my name is Angela and we have two children at the Abbey.  I decided to volunteer for the PTFA, as I wanted to be part of a great team who help to provide fun activities and events for Abbey children.  I have lovely memories of being involved in a craft afternoon and mini disco for Reception children, helping to serve drinks to parents and families after Reception’s welcome Mass, and helping Santa give out books for classes at Christmas time.  I would definitely recommend being part of the PTFA, as it is a lovely team of people, and seeing the joy on the children’s faces during these special events is wonderful.

Cheryl

Cheryl

Secretary

Hi I’m Cheryl and I have two boys. The PTFA support the school in lots of different ways which benefit my children so I enjoy being able to give a little back. It is also a great way to meet other parents and make new friends. I am the secretary and one of the trustees of the PTFA.

Clare

Clare

Co-Treasurer

My name is Clare and I have three children, two are currently at Abbey Catholic Primary School. I decided to volunteer for the PTFA to get involved with school life and help build the best possible experiences for my children and enhance their learning experiences. I am the co treasurer and trustee to the charity. I’ve had lots of happy memories with a fabulous group of people, favourite memory – donating a bear only for my daughter to ‘win’ it back at the church Christmas fair! I would recommend joining the PTFA as this a charity run by people that truly have the best interests of our children at heart.  There are so many experiences that the school are able to provide because of the support and hard work of the PTFA.

Jo

Jo

Co-Treasurer

Hi my name is Jo Boxwell. I am a mom of four,  with only one still here at The Abbey. My three older children also came here. I am one of the trustees and Co Treasurer. I am part of the PTFA to help the school and to try and raise funds to provide that little bit extra for the children.

Kayleigh

Kayleigh

I’m Kayleigh, my son started Abbey Catholic Primary in 2023. I love getting stuck in with the work and getting creative! Being part of the PTFA has helped give me some much needed purpose and I love the family and community feel of it.

Kim

Kim

Hi, my name is Kim and I have two boys. I love that being involved in the PTFA allows me to help contribute in securing new resources and opportunities for the children. The children also get to experience a multitude of activities whilst attending the Abbey and anything we can do within the PTFA to ensure this continues, I wholly support.

Laura

Laura

Hello I am Laura, I have three small children, two are currently at the Abbey Catholic Primary. When they began at The Abbey I wanted to help out wherever I could so joined the PTFA. I have been massively involved in the organisation of the uniform shack with my label machine. I enjoy the discos and the coffee mornings. Being on the PTFA is a great way to meet new parents and also, your children make friends with other children over different age groups. Great craic.

Mairead

Mairead

I’m Mairead. I joined the PTFA when my son joined the school as I wanted to help out in more ways than just picking him up.  He has since moved onto secondary school, but my daughter has just started so I am ready to do it all again!

I am a trustee of the PTFA.

Nathalie

Hello my  name is… Nathalie. I have four boys who have all been pupils at The Abbey Catholic Primary school so many school runs!

I started by volunteering at the discos and now wherever I can, I help out.  I enjoy joining in with the social occasions the PTFA have as we are a fun bunch.

Rachelle

Rachelle

I have two daughters who both attend the Abbey. After seeing how excited my eldest daughter was about attending her first school disco in Year 1 it got me reminiscing about my school discos and how much I loved them. I learned these events can only happen with a large team of PTFA volunteers so if I wanted my children to have these core memories then I needed to get involved too.

I love helping out on the range of events our wonderful PTFA put on. You’ve never seen pure excitement and mayhem until you’ve helped out on the tuk stand or sold glow sticks at the disco, it’s fabulous seeing children all ages across the school letting their hair down and having fun with their friends. A great time for them and a fantastic way for us to raise money to help the school. Seeing where the money you have helped raise is being utilised in school is an added bonus.

By having a big pool of PTFA volunteers means we can all jump in and help if and when we can with no pressure to be at every “many hands make light work”

If you want your child and all children to experience school discos, wacky non school uniform days, Christmas or summer fayres then put yourself forward to make sure they can. It’s a great way to make friends with parents across other year groups and build relations with the school

Aleksandra

Aleksandra

Hi, everyone! My name is Aleksandra and I have a son at the Abbey.  I joined PTFA when my son started and have helped the group since then. I still look forward to playing my part in volunteering at school because it is a fantastic opportunity to help out pupils, and parents enjoy the school life as much as possible. We support the school in many ways and meet lovely people.
