Event - Donating Shoes to Help Others

29 September 2017

There are 300 million children in the world for whom walking with shoes is a rarity. This makes them extremely vulnerable to infection by parasites, such as hookworm; while injuries to the feet and ankles can lead to ulcers and other conditions which are almost always left untreated. Without shoes, many children are not permitted to attend school.

Abbey Catholic Primary School were proud to support the charity Sal's Shoes. The charity collects shoes that are in good condition and sends them to vulnerable children around the world.

Families from Abbey Primary gave their old school shoes and trainers that were still in good condition and donated them (along with £1 to support postage) to those less fortunate than themselves.

Wonderful parent volunteers sorted and boxed the shoes ready for postage.

Another fabulous example of our Abbey families living out the Catholic Pupil Profile and role modelling to our children how to make a positive difference in the world.
