Enjoying a yummy treat - delicious!
22 July 2013
On the last day of Summer term the whole school celebrated the arrival of Summer with a fabulous picnic.
To thank pupils and staff for their hard work all year, an ice cream van arrived with yummy treats.
Thank you to the PTFA for funding this delicious reward.
The winning team.
19 July 2013
The time had finally come. The pressure was on. After several Year 6 v staff football matches throughout the year - this was the last chance to settle it once and for all!
Tension mounted as the Year 6 and staff teams approached the pitch. The scorching sun only added to the already tense final - who would win the coveted title of overall champions?
After a 5-all draw, penalties resulted in a victory for the staff team. Well done all players and huge thanks to Iwana for organising the matches all year.
Sharing lunch together.
15 to 18 July 2013
This week we have greeted our new Reception groups in school. The children along with their parents, both familiar to the community and new, were into ted to share a lunch in the school hall in preparation for joining us in September.
Parents and Staff were very proud at how well these young pupils settled into a new surrounding.
The choir perform to family and friends.
15 July 2013
On Monday the 15th July 2013 the Abbey School Choir performed all of the songs we have learned this year to our Moms and Dads.
I think that every single song brought a tear drop to each adult's eyes.
Mrs Adamo has worked so hard for the choir just for this moment, so for that we thank her very much. I'm sure we made all that hard work worthwhile.
All our practise has paid off and we put on a great show!

Mrs Steele and student leaders talk to our new Year 6.
15 July 2013
On Monday 15th July 2013, the Headteacher of our neighbouring secondary school, Mrs Steele, came to visit.
Mrs Steele was accompanied by three student leaders who explained all of the wonderful opportunities available to students who attend St Edmund Campion Catholic Secondary School.
Mrs Steele and the students are particularly proud of the floodlights and astro turf being installed over the summer holiday. One of our students immediately asked Ms Tallon "Can we have one too?"
We look forward to continuing our strong links with St Edmund Campion in 2013/14.
Some of our pupils after face painting.
13 July 2013
On Saturday 13th July 2013, the Abbey Church hosted a Parish Summer Fete.
School was very pleased to support and our wonderful PTFA ran a stall selling temporary tattoos and Abbey School Tote bags.
The weather was glorious and everyone had a fabulous time with activities such as: hoopla, inflatable castle, face painting, splat the rat and many more. The BBQ was delicious and the cream teas simply devine.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make it a wonderful day.

On Monday 1st July it was back to school for the lunchtime supervisors as they enjoyed a series of workshops and lectures.
The day was led by CAT - Communication and Autism Team and was very informative and useful.
Meeting Ellie Simmonds
In June 2013, some of our staff and students (and of course Travelling Ted) were honoured to meet Ellie Simmonds.
Eleanor May Simmonds, OBE, is a British Paralympian swimmer. She came to national attention when she competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, winning two gold medals for Great Britain, despite being the youngest member of the team, at the age of 13.
In 2012 she was again selected for the Great Britain squad, this time swimming at a home games in London. She won another two golds in London, including setting a World Record in the 400m freestyle.
After School Club members.
20 June 2013
Members of the 'Creative 12' after-school club enjoyed a wonderful day at Sandwell Valley Farm Park.
They put themselves through the challenges of the adventure playground, explored the area on a woodland walk, devoured their packed lunches outside and viewed a variety of farm animals (including some very smelly pigs!).
A thoroughly exhausting, but wonderful day!
Our tennis players.
14 June 2013
On 14th June, four children represented our school in the Kingsbury Tennis competition. It was great to see so many other schools there and to be involved in such a fun competition.
The Abbey team came 3rd, and we even won a prize for 'Sportsman of the competition!'
Well done to everyone involved - what a credit to our school!
Saying goodbye to Mrs Morgan.
7 June 2013
Today was Mrs Morgan's last day before her maternity leave starts.
In our morning assembly the children all shared with her special cards wishing her all the best in the coming weeks.
Wishing you every happiness for this special time in your family life, we cannot wait for your next visit.

A beautiful chair to remember Sarah.
23 April 2013
Our huge thanks to McDermotts for installing our beautiful story chair.
Our story chair is known as 'Sarah's Story Chair' and is in memory of our wonderful dinner lady, Sarah Daviu, who sadly died last year.
Our Athletics Champions.
22 April 2013
On Monday 22nd April 2013, Year 1 and 2 ventured to Edmund Campion and competed in Athletics and Multi Skills competition. There were various activities, from speed bounce to relays.
The competition was of a very high standard, and young athletics were in the making.
The conduct of the children was remarkable. Teamwork was united and everyone supported their team companions within individual races.
It is with great pride to announce that The Abbey Catholic School came first! Well done! Miss Ross would like to thank everyone who supported the children at Edmund Campion and taking part in this great event.
Our proud attendees.
16 April 2013
We are very proud of all of our children who are 100% attenders in school. Each term, children who have 100% attendance are presented with a special gold certificate. Children who have only missed one day are presented with a silver certificate.
After returning to school after the Easter holidays we held a welcome back assembly to celebrate our excellent attendance. So many children were awarded certificates, we couldn't fit them in for a group photograph!
We are very proud of all of them and hope to present even more at the end of Summer term 2013.
