School Improvements - 2013/14

Year 6 Redecoration

May 2014

Our school is a large building which needs constant care and attention. As the Year 6 students visited the Isle of Wight on a residential trip in May 2014, it was the perfect time to redecorate one of the year 6 classrooms. It was 'all hands on deck' as we worked to complete the transformation in five days - ready for their return.

Storage was installed, walls and woodwork were painted and we even discovered an original window that had been boarded up for longer than anyone can remember! The exposed window adds light to both the classroom and top corridor and was cleaned up and painted immediately.

Year 6 pupils and staff were delighted with the transformation; along with our super new desks and chairs- this is now a superbly refurbished classroom which we are very proud of.

Storage Shed

September 2013

As we awaited the arrival of our new reception intake, it was clear that more storage space was required. The purchase of a new storage shed brought great excitement and it was all hands on deck to get it installed before the children started.

Pupil and Staff Toilet Facilities

Summer 2013

We love our school building, however, at over 100 years old, it needs gentle loving care and improvements every year.

During Summer 2013, much needed updating and renovating has taken place with pupil and staff toilet facilities. We would have loved to update these facilities years ago. But, everything costs money! We are completely refurbing two sets of toilets and are redesigning an area to create two additional work spaces.

It's too late to change our mind now!
What a lot of mess!

It's looking better...
Goodbye grotty loos!

In much need of improvement!
Old sinks disposed of.

Nicely re-plastered walls.
Large wasted space being transformed into two work areas.

Goodbye doorway...
Hello window!

A large storage area having half a wall removed...
Resulting in a lovely phonics resource base and 1 to 1 work area.

Refurbished adult toilet facilities.
