Event - Sutton Coldfield Community Games

12 and 13 July 2014

Abbey Catholic Primary School are very proud to have been involved with the Sutton Coldfield Community Games.

Two of the core team working at the games are Abbey staff and the event was incredibly well supported by Abbey families and staff.

The Sutton Coldfield Community Games was born from an idea in 2010 that was inspired by the then approaching London Olympics 2012 and has now had a second successful event in 2014. This time the Sutton Coldfield Community Games tied in with the Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow.

"It’s fun, it helps build confidence, you make friends, it’s good for you, just a few of the reasons to go along to Wyndley on 12th July. 2012 is not forgotten the legacy goes on. You don't have to be a full time athlete to enjoy having a fit and healthy lifestyle. I tried lots of different sports before deciding swimming was for me. The Sutton Coldfield Community Games gives you the chance to try out around 50 sports to find out what you enjoy, so why not give it a go?"
Ellie Simmonds, OBE

As in 2012,in 2014 the organisers brough at least fifty sports and cultural events to Wyndley Leisure Centre over the weekend beginning 12th July and the games were free for everyone to enjoy, regardless of ability.

Thank you to all Abbey families and staff who helped make the games an amazing weekend. Particular thanks to Mr Kennedy for his continued passion and enthusiasm.
