Event - St Patrick's Day Celebrations

17 March 2014

The long standing tradition of celebrating St Patrick's day at the Abbey was as strong as ever this year.

We were privileged to start the day with members of the Birmingham Irish Pipe and Drums welcoming pupils, parents and staff with some traditional Irish bagpipe music.

Children and staff donned all manner of green attire making donations to our Lenten charities.

An assembly was held, celebrating the Irish heritage of many of our families. We enjoyed a talented group of Irish dancers who performed a range of dances throughout the performance. A drama told the story of St Patrick.

We discovered lots about customary sports associated with Ireland that some of our pupils enjoy, such as: camogie, hurling and Gaelic football. Some time-honoured music was shared on the keyboards, the fiddle and tin whistle.
