Event - Sports Day

21 July 2014

On Monday 21st July 2014 glorious weather heralded the annual Sports Day at Abbey Catholic Primary School.

Miss Mumford co-ordinated the event and was both excited and nervous as we tried something new! A detailed timetable involving events indoors, athletics on the field and cycling on the playground was introduced. We knew it would be either a great success or a disastrous flop but we persevered and took the chance. We're delighted to say: it was a tremendous success!

Our thanks go to Highclare School who graciously allowed us to use their playing fields. Thanks to the BikeNorth team who provided bikes which generated electricity to ensure we had motivating tunes on the field and gave up their day to support us. Thanks also to our very own Bike Ambassadors; Mrs Lonergan and Mrs Marks who coordinated and led the cycling activities on our school playground. Thanks to Miss Turvey for designing our beautiful certificates.

There was fabulous parental support throughout the day with some parents coming to all three scheduled slots on the field - that's dedication!

Thanks to our dinner team who sold refreshments on the field, raising funds for equipment to be used at lunchtime.

Everyone had a wonderful day. Miss M is busy planning the next one already! Thank you to everyone who helped the children have a fabulous time.
