Event - Year 6 Job Taster Day

18 February 2011

On Friday 18th February, Year 6 embarked on a Job Taster Trail, in the Sutton Mall.

The day began by catching the train into Sutton; from there we split into four groups who visited a variety of different places. Each group got the chance to visit the Police station where we able to try on various different items of police safety wear. Some children even got locked up in handcuffs!

The businesses that we visited come from a variety of fields: The Entertainer, Shakeaway, Post Office, The Body Shop and Thomas Cook to name a few! In each enterprise, a member of staff took the time to explain to the group about their jobs and gave opportunities to ask questions.

In between the visits, we had a trail to complete, we had to search the shopping centre to find the answers to many questions – did you know that different areas of the Mall are named after chess pieces?

The train journey went fast.

Looking fierce in riot gear!
I hope they have got the keys to these handcuffs!
